International Standards for the Smart Grid
.
On Tuesday 10th May (see times below), Talkstandards will host an online discussion regarding standards in the Smart Grid space looking at recent developments from an international perspective:
.
• GMT 15:00
• Europe: CET 17:00 / London 16:00
• US: Eastern 11:00 / Pacific 08:00
• Beijing 23:00
• Sydney 01:00 (11th May)
.
The Smart Grid promises huge cost and environmental efficiencies and Standards will be instrumental in achieving these lofty goals.
.
Last month, the EU commission officially mandated the three official European Standards Bodies – CEN, CENELEC, ETSI – with the task of developing a common, comprehensive, and flexible framework to foster standards for the Smart Grid and standards convergence for Europe.
.
Meanwhile, NIST’s Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP) recently voted in favor of a new standard and a set of guidelines critical for realising an energy-efficient, modern, interoperable and technically flexible electric grid.
.
It is against this backdrop the upcoming event asks:
.
• Where and what benefits do we see worldwide from the Smart Grid?
.
• Who is developing what for the Smart Grid?
.
Format: At the event’s commencement (see above) the keynote contributions will be published. It is upon these articles that the discussion will form. The event is the coming together of experts to foster a live discussion in an online, free and international environment. Please leave any questions/comments at the end of each article to take part in the discussion.
.
