Transforming Electricity – The Future of Smart Grids
.
To conclude our Smart Grid Week (see: www.talkstandards.com/smart-grid-week), on Thursday 18th November 2010 (5pm CET / 11am EST / 8am PST) Talkstandards will host an open forum to discuss the appropriate role of ICT standardization in the Smart Grid industry.
.
Questions to be addressed:
• What is the appropriate role of ICT standards in this market?
• Is the technology sufficiently mature for industry-driven standardization?
• How can standardization best foster innovation and competition?
.
The Smart Grid generates data related to production, distribution and consumption of electricity. These data can be used to increase efficiency and to develop smart applications. But smart products and services provided by independent vendors rely on timely access to data and interoperability.
.
However, availability and exchange of disaggregated consumer information raises key questions regarding privacy as well as security.
.
I invite you to take part in the discussion, please contact Junior Editor Peter Gray for additional information/feedback.
